CARA Tuition Scholarships

The Medieval Academy's Committee on Centers and Regional Associations (CARA) each summer awards full tuition scholarships to four students participating in Latin summer programs offered at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Toronto.

Only students who are members of the Medieval Academy are eligible for these scholarships.

Medieval Institute, University of Notre Dame. CARA provides full tuition scholarships for two students taking Medieval Latin or Latin Paleography at the Medieval Institute. For information regarding the summer offerings, students should write the Summer Session Office, University of Notre Dame, 510 Main Bldg., Notre Dame, IN 46556-5602 (http://www.nd.edu/~sumsess). Students wishing to apply for these scholarships should not write the Medieval Academy. Instead, they should write the Director of the Medieval Institute, 715 Hesburgh Library, Univ. of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN 46556. The annual deadline for CARA scholarship applications is 1 May.

Centre for Medieval Studies, University of Toronto. CARA provides full tuition scholarships for two students taking summer courses in medieval Latin at the M.A. and Ph.D. levels. For details and application forms, write (with $2 mailing fee) to Medieval Latin Programme, Centre for Medieval Studies, 39 Queen's Park Cresc. E., Toronto, ON M5S 2C3, Canada (http://www.chass.utoronto.ca/medieval). Students wishing to apply for these scholarships should not write the Medieval Academy. Instead, they should send a transcript and a brief personal statement indicating their interest and the value of the summer program for their studies and should arrange for a letter of reference to be mailed separately to Medieval Latin Programme, at the above address. The annual deadline for CARA scholarship applications is 1 March.
